Andrew Yap was a co-founder of ANYTIME in 2000. As Executive Co-Chairman,
Andrew has been instrumental in forging strategic alliances with several
Hollywood studios like MGM, Warner Bros. International Television
Distribution, NBC Universal Cable and Sony Pictures Television International.
He has also successfully spearheaded alliances with Asia Pacific partners
to develop the company's business in high growth broadband connected
markets such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, China and Malaysia.
He is respected in the local and regional film industry for his passion,
knowledge of the business and support for the development of the industry.
In 1996, Andrew made a successful foray into the motion picture industry
with the funding of 20th Century Fox's, "Paradise Road" in which he
was the executive producer. The World War II movie was set in Singapore
and starred Oscar award winning actresses Glenn Close and Frances
MacDormand.
Andrew is also the Vice-Chairman and Executive Director of Singapore-based
YTC Corporation Ltd which is a major shareholder in ANYTIME. The Group
has interests in several key sectors ranging from hotel management
and ownership, property development, industrial chemicals, media and
entertainment. Through its subsidiaries, it owns the Peninsula, Excelsior
and Paramount hotels as well as Spinelli Coffee Company. YTC has operations
in 12 countries including China, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand,
and the US.
Andrew has a double degree in Engineering Physics (summa cum laude)
and Electrical and Electronic Engineering (cum laude) from the University
of the Pacific, USA. His excellent academic performance earned him
a seat as a member of the school's most prestigious engineering societies,
Phi Kappa Phi and Tau Beta Phi. Andrew also read International Business
Law and Finance at the University of California, Los Angeles.
He served as a Board member of the Media Development Authority (MDA)
from 2003 - 2004, Singapore's regulatory body for the media industry.
